The cost of living in Brisbane depends on individual lifestyles but generally costs are lower in Brisbane than in Australia's other eastern capital cities. Cost of living in Brisbane and Australia is also lower than the United Kingdom and Northern America.

QIBT estimates that a single international student requires approximately A$12,000-15,000 per year for accomodation, food, textbooks and other study materials, as well as your personal expenses including transport, entertainment and recreation costs. This amount does not cover major expenses such as your tuition fees, the purchase of a car, television, stereo or computer.

The amount required for living expenses depends largely on your individual situation and lifestyle. Following is a sample student budget for a one week period during the semester:

Note: these are estimates only

A new small car costs at least A$15,000 and a reliable second hand vehicle costs between A$4,000-8,000. Car insurance and registration costs are in the region of A$1,000 per year. A television or stereo costs between A$400 and A$800, and a basic computer is approximately A$1,000.
