Mixed English and Academic Program (MEAP)

Students who gain entry into MEAP typically have an English language level that is 1/2 an IELTS band (or equivalent) below that required for direct entry to the academic program.  Note, students may not study MEAP with the PQP.

Certificate IV in University Foundation Studies

Entry into the Certificate IV program generally requires the successful completion of Year 11 or equivalent. Specific academic requirements for progression to Diplomas listed below.

University level Diploma Programs

Entry into Diploma programs generally requires the successful completion of Year 12 or equivalent.  If you have completed Year 12 or equivalent but your results do not qualify you for entry into a Diploma program, you will be admitted to the Certificate IV program.  You may then transfer to Diploma level after one semester, subject to achieving a grade average of 70% in four courses.

Pre-requisites

• Diploma of Biosciences: Year 12 Mathematics B (or equivalent) plus one of either Chemistry or Biological Science.
• Diploma of Criminology & Criminal Justice: IELTS (or equivalent) of 6.0
• Diploma of Engineering: Year 12 Mathematics B (or equivalent), Physics is recommended.
• Diploma of Graphic Design: Year 12 Art, Graphics, Technical Studies or Design is desirable.
• Diploma of Information Technology: Year 12 Mathematics (or equivalent)

Postgraduate Qualifying Program (PQP)

Entry to the Postgraduate Qualifying Program (PQP) is determined by your academic qualifications and your level of English. You must present appropriate Bachelor degree (or Diploma) results from previous tertiary study in your home country. Applications are assessed on a case-by-case basis.

English language requirements

The language of instruction at QIBT is English. International students must demonstrate a suitable level of English language proficiency before being admitted into a program. This can be done by obtaining one of the results shown in the table below.

International students who do not meet the English language requirements may be eligible for the Mixed English and Academic Program (MEAP) or undertake English Language Intensive Course for Overseas Students (ELICOS) at Griffith University English Language Institute (GUELI).
