If you do not meet the minimum English language requirement for your program and are not eligible for the Mixed English and Academic Program you may choose to enrol in an intensive English language course at Griffith English Language Institute to improve your English language proficiency.
Students may study one of the following programs:
1. General English (GE)
GE is available for students at all levels of English. This program emphasises the development of communication skills in reading, writing, listening an speaking. GE programs are offered every 5 weeks in Brisbane and every 2 weeks on the Gold Coast.
2. English for Academic Purposes (EAP)
This program is for those students with a high level of English proficiency who are planning to enter academic programs at QIBT. GELI's EAP programs are offered in five week modules throughout the year.
3. Direct Entry Program (DEP)
This high level English for Academic Purposes program is designed for students who have received a conditional offer to study the PQP at QIBT. Upon successful completion of DEP, students are not required to undertake a formal English test before transferring to the PQP. Students must meet requirements to gain entry to this program.
How long will you need to study English?
Students wishing to study at QIBT must meet the English and academic entry level of their chosen program before commencing their formal studies. As a guide, 10 weeks of intensive English may improve a student's score by half an overall IELTS band.
How to apply
Students should contact QIBT for more information on how to apply. Latest GELI information can be found at www.griffith.edu.au/gueli
