The Mixed English and Academic Program (MEAP) consists of 15 weeks of English divided into 5 weeks of General English and 10 weeks of English for Academic Purposes. The English component will be delivered by Griffith English Language Institute (GELI) on the Mt Gravatt campus with the one academic course from the Certificate IV or Diploma programs being delivered by QIBT.

During the first semester, students will study General English and English for Academic Purposes with GELI, combined with one Certificate or Diploma course at QIBT. The following semesters consist of a full academic load of the remaining Certificate or Diploma courses. Advancement to the full academic program requires completion of the English language component with a passing grade.

Students who gain entry into MEAP typically have an English language level that is half an IELTS band (or equivalent) below that required for direct entry to the academic program (excluding the Diploma of Criminology and Criminal Justice and the PQP). Students wishing to study the Diploma of Criminology and Criminal Justice, PQP or students who require intensive English language tuition may choose from a range of programs at GELI.

After completing the Mixed English and Academic Program, it is not necessary to undertake external tests again (for example, IELTS or TOEFL).

Duration: 1 Semester (15 teaching weeks)
